Good Tucker App for Healthier Choices
The "Good Tucker" app is a valuable tool designed to help individuals in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities make healthier food and beverage choices when shopping locally. Developed in collaboration with the Menzies School of Health Research, the University of South Australia, and Uncle Jimmy Thumbs Up!, the app aims to promote awareness of the benefits of a healthy diet, especially among Indigenous children.
Powered by the technology used in the "Food Switch" app, "Good Tucker" allows users to scan a product's barcode and instantly see its health rating displayed as a thumbs-up, sideways, or down symbol. This rating system is based on a combination of the product's Health Star Rating and the discretionary food classification from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
